A traditional island house of 1890 built into the rock, a witness to many changes on Santorini, has turned meticulously into a contemporary hotel concept where the historical elements become the canvas for guests to create unique memories. Consisting of 6 charming suites, the traditional inner courtyard (Alitana in the local dialect) and two romantic roof terraces, perfect to admire the beautiful sunset, Firalia welcomes couples, friends, and families to an unexpected experience. As soon as they pass the threshold, guests have their first encounter with history, as they walk into the Alitana (the main courtyard), the point of reference for socializing and enjoying the blue sky and natural light coming through the vine leaves upon their heads. As a typical Santorini house, it is built around an interior garden or paved courtyard that used to function as a connecting open space for all units, balancing between the rooms? privacy and the house?s meeting point. Nowadays, Alitana is a wonderfully serene shared common area with the long convent table to invite guests to share memories and create new, instagrammable ones.
The suites follow the same philosophy, as they preserve the nostalgic finesse of the island?s whimsical architecture, focused on inner spaces with domes and high ceilings with small windows allowing the natural light and air to traverse the whole room, while adding an alluring sense. Small corridors connect the passages to and from the main and the back exit, leading to the cobbled alleys at the center of Fira. Climbing the stone stairs, guests find themselves in front of a romantic meeting point. Already a talk of the town among those with a sensitive heart, the roof terraces unfold the whole uninterrupted water stage for them to savour every second of the sunset, just a few steps away from their suite.
